Beautycounter — Mercer + Green

I am always on the hunt for new and exciting clean beauty products. I am VERY picky with what I use on my skin. There are so many products out there masquerading as clean and safe by using unregulated words such as "all-natural","pure", "green" etc. In fact, many of the products out there claiming to be non-toxic and pure are loaded with questionable and harmful ingredients.

I originally heard about Beautycounter a year ago when they launched and was super excited to try some of of their skincare recently. Beautycounter's mission is to get safe beauty products into everyone's hands. They believe beauty products can be safe while being effective, beautiful while not compromising your health. Beautycounter never uses unregulated, confusing terms such as "all-natural” (because natural doesn’t mean anything) or “green” or “all organic” because they do use organic ingredients when available, but the products are not all organic. Beautycounter is on a mission to "put the truth back in beauty."

As part of their mission to educate, Beautycounter not only lists what’s IN their products but what’s NOT in there, including “ trade secrets." My products even came with a handy " Never List" of ingredients to avoid when shopping for beauty products. I have been keeping it in my wallet and find it quiet useful! All of the Beautycounter products I tried were multifunctional which I love. The Routine Clean cleanser is a makeup remover, cleanser and toner in one! I have been washing my face with the Routine Clean morning and night and not only does my skin feel super clean, it also feels refreshed and tightened.

My skin needs a lot of moisture. A lot. Nursing Hermione leaves both me and my skin parched, and the long, cold winter we just had did not do me any favors. The Everyday AM Hydrating Cream is a great moisturizer for me. It leaves my skin feeling completely hydrated, smooth, soft and glowing. Even better is that it can be used as a moisturizer, eye cream and makeup primer all in one!

On days when I need even more moisture I have been loving the Lustro Face Oil. It smells divine and can be used in a variety of ways. Sometimes I layer it under my Everyday AM Hydrating Cream for an extra layer of moisture. If I want my face to have a dewy look I mix a drop or two into my Hydrating Cream before applying. However, my favorite trick ( that I learned from this cool video) is to drop a few drops onto the top of my hand, rub it in a little and then use my first two fingers to apply to my brow line, the bridge of my nose, and my cheekbones as a highliter!
